The UK and its allies are collaborating to equip Ukraine with AI-enabled swarm drones, as reported by Bloomberg. These drones, in the thousands, are designed to autonomously target Russian assets, with communication and coordination among themselves, eliminating the need for individual human operators.
According to sources familiar with the program, these drones will operate in large fleets, communicating internally to pinpoint Russian positions. This advancement in technology is expected to empower Ukraine in neutralizing specific Russian targets with the assistance of unmanned vehicles.
While there is anticipation that the drones could be dispatched to Ukraine within a few months, there are also warnings of potential delays in meeting this deadline.
In earlier developments, Ukraine’s Defense Minister Rustem Umierov announced the official launch of the drone coalition within the Ukraine Defense Contact Group, also known as Ramstein-format meetings. Additionally, during a NATO defense ministers meeting in Brussels on February 15th, partners pledged to supply Ukraine with one million drones for its Armed Forces.
