Volkswagen has introduced the ID. EVERY1, a show car that is set to become the automaker’s long-promised affordable electric vehicle. Targeted at a price of €20,000 (approximately $20,800 USD), the new model aims to reinvigorate VW’s business while making EVs more accessible to the public. With market leaders like Tesla yet to deliver an entry-level EV at this price point, VW’s move signals a major push to expand its electric lineup.
The ID. EVERY1 is positioned below the previously announced ID. 2all, which debuted in 2023 with a €25,000 price tag. Both models are currently slated for the European market, with production of the ID. 2all expected to start in 2026 and the ID. EVERY1 following in 2027. As uncertainty looms over EV policies in North America, it remains unclear whether these models will be introduced to U.S. or Canadian markets.
Built on Volkswagen’s second-generation MEB platform, the ID. EVERY1 is designed as a compact hatchback with modern software and modular features. It shares elements with the ID. 2all, including a front-wheel-drive layout and flexible interior configurations. VW plans to introduce a total of nine new electric models by 2027 under its Core brand group, reinforcing its commitment to electric mobility.
Performance-wise, the ID. EVERY1 prioritizes affordability over high-end specifications. The vehicle is equipped with a newly developed electric motor producing 94 horsepower (70 kW) and a top speed of 81 mph. While Volkswagen has not disclosed the exact battery size, an estimated range of 155 miles (250 km) suggests a capacity of around 35 kWh. Measuring 152.8 inches in length, the ID. EVERY1 is notably shorter than the ID.4 but offers seating for four passengers and 10.8 cubic feet of trunk space.
Incorporating elements of past VW models like the Up and Polo, as well as styling cues from the 2021 ID. Life concept, the ID. EVERY1 blends compact SUV characteristics with a minimalist design. The vehicle features a modular center console that can be moved to the rear, along with a rail system on the dashboard for attaching accessories. A removable Bluetooth speaker between the driver and front passenger adds a unique touch. As Volkswagen faces increasing competition from Chinese automakers and other global brands, the ID. EVERY1 marks a significant step in making EVs more affordable and widely available.
