After 13 years of waiting, Grand Theft Auto 6 has finally revealed two things players will not have to worry about when they step into Vice City. Rockstar Games says the highly anticipated sequel will launch without microtransactions and generative AI, two increasingly controversial features across the gaming industry.

• Rockstar is avoiding microtransactions and generative AI at launch.
• GTA 6 arrives after a 13 year wait.
• The decision could help the game avoid early controversy.

Questions about real money purchases were reportedly put directly to Rockstar during discussions surrounding the game’s latest gameplay preview. The studio confirmed that GTA 6 will not launch with traditional in game monetization, potentially giving players a more straightforward experience when the game arrives.

• GTA 6 will not feature traditional microtransactions at launch.
• Players will not need real money for standard in game purchases.
• The decision could appeal to millions of players at launch.

Rockstar has also reportedly confirmed that generative AI is not being used in GTA 6. The technology has become one of the gaming industry’s most divisive topics, with several recent releases facing criticism over its use. Rockstar’s decision means GTA 6 will avoid another major source of controversy when it launches.

• Generative AI will reportedly not be used in GTA 6.
• AI has become increasingly controversial in game development.
• Rockstar is taking a different approach with its blockbuster sequel.

There is, however, an important catch to the game’s approach to monetization. The $99.99 Ultimate Edition includes exclusive cosmetics, vehicles, weapons and access to certain shops, putting some content behind a more expensive purchase. Standard Edition owners will reportedly be able to purchase an upgrade separately, giving players another way to access the additional content.

• The Ultimate Edition costs $99.99.
• It includes exclusive cosmetic items, vehicles, weapons and shops.
• Standard Edition owners can reportedly upgrade later.

GTA 6 is scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. The bigger question is what happens after launch, particularly with GTA Online and any future monetization plans. For now, Rockstar appears determined to deliver its long awaited sequel without two of the industry’s most controversial modern trends.

• GTA 6 launches on November 19, 2026.
• The game is coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
• Rockstar’s plans for the next GTA Online remain unclear.
