Claude is moving beyond being a chatbot, and its latest upgrades could change how people create everyday work. Anthropic is bringing document and presentation creation directly into Claude, while removing the need for users to decide whether they should work in Claude Chat or Cowork.
• Claude is merging Chat and Cowork into one experience
• New tools can create documents and presentations
• Anthropic is expanding Claude into everyday office work
The company is introducing Claude Docs and Claude Slides, giving users tools to create, edit and refine documents and presentations from within conversations. The features are expected to roll out to Pro and Max subscribers in the coming weeks, bringing more traditional office tasks into the AI assistant.
• Claude Docs is designed for collaborative document creation
• Claude Slides can build complete presentations
• Files can be edited and downloaded as PowerPoint or PDF
The merger of Claude Chat and Cowork is also significant. Instead of choosing an environment before starting a task, Claude will determine what capabilities are needed and can use Cowork’s context, skills and connectors directly within a conversation. Users can also control how independently Claude works, including how often it asks for permission before taking action.
• Users no longer need to choose between Chat and Cowork
• Cowork capabilities will be available across conversations
• Users can give Claude more freedom to complete tasks
The new tools put Claude directly into territory dominated by Microsoft and Google. Docs and Slides bring Anthropic closer to the office-suite experience offered through Microsoft Copilot and Google Gemini, while Claude Design is also being integrated into conversations. The new features remain in beta, with enterprise customers able to control when they are enabled.
• Anthropic is moving deeper into workplace productivity
• Claude Design is joining the conversation-based workflow
• Free and Team users will receive the features later
Anthropic’s expansion comes after a rapid evolution of Cowork from a research preview into a broader productivity platform. The company’s strong financial momentum is adding to the attention, with reports suggesting a possible valuation of up to $2 trillion ahead of a potential IPO, although Anthropic has not confirmed that figure. The bigger story may be what Claude becomes when an AI assistant can handle the entire journey from an idea to a finished presentation.
• Cowork has expanded rapidly over the past year
• Reports have circulated about a potential $2 trillion valuation
• Claude is increasingly becoming a workplace productivity platform
